Biography

Since my childhood  I have always been interested in drawing and painting. In those days I used margins of the pages of schoolbooks as a drawing board and now and then I couldn’t resist the wallpaper of my own room.

When I turned seventeen my interest began to shift towards oil painting. Especially after having seen a major exhibition in Arnhem in the mid Eighties by the famous Dutch Magical Realist painter Carel Willink. His paintings inspired me to buy a set of oils and soon after that I started to make my first oil painting, secretly hoping it would turn out just as good as Carel’s paintings. Of course I failed but all through my studies I kept on drawing and painting.

The urge to paint has never left me. Although I have a busy job and young children I recently decided to convert my old attic into a studio. Several times a week I sneak upstairs in the evening to surrender myself to the creative process. Some of the results you can see in the gallery. I hope you enjoy them.
